With a measles case recently reported in Whatcom County, we wanted to let community members know not to go to clinics if you suspect you are infected. Although the overall risk to the public is low, measles is highly contagious.
Common symptoms include:
- High fever, typically over 101° F
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Red, watery eyes
- Tiny white spots inside the mounth
- A rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body
If you have symptoms of measles and have recently been exposed or traveled, do not go to a clinic. You should call the ER or local health department so they can provide further instructions based on your situation.
